Senior Backend Engineer

Summit Human Capital is seeking a highly motivated 100% Remote Backend Developer to support our client in the cybersecurity software industry, building solutions that protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats. This position has the exciting opportunity to design and deliver intuitive user experiences that empower security professionals to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience developing backend systems in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment
• Proficiency in Rust and Kotlin or demonstrated ability to become proficient quickly
• 3+ years of experience in relational databases such as Postgres
• 3+ years of experience with NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch
• Experience integrating with third-party devices and data providers
• Experience incorporating AI tools, models, or services into development workflows
• Ability to lead technical decisions within a team or project scope

Desired:

• Experience working in cybersecurity or environments
• Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale with a focus on reliability
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and evolve APIs and backend services at the core of the platform
• Own API contracts and design philosophy end-to-end to deliver reliable, well-architected interfaces
• Optimize existing software architectures to enhance speed and efficiency
• Actively participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, including debugging and optimization
• Stay informed about advancements in Rust programming, security, and software design principles
• Foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement

The hourly pay range for this position is $70 – $75, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
