Senior Backend Software Engineer

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to develop and maintain server-side applications, including APIs, databases, microservices, and other services containing business logic. The role involves designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining backend solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java and backend development, REST APIs, JSON, Azure, and enterprise application integrations. Experience with IBM TRIRIGA and IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities (MREF) is also relevant to this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand their use cases and requirements.

• Solve complex technical problems by designing, developing, and delivering solutions using various tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.

• Follow architecture guidelines to maintain a unified and consistent approach to development.

• Design, develop, and deliver new backend code.

• Develop and maintain backend applications, including APIs and microservices, using server-side languages such as Java, Python, and C#.

• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user interface elements.

• Work with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and architects.

• Manage application deployment in cloud and on-premises environments.

• Monitor application health and performance and support security hardening and disaster recovery for deployed applications.

• Manage application data storage and retrieval using database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB.

• Promote improvements in programming practices, including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.

• Optimize backend infrastructure and deployment practices to improve application resiliency and reliability.

• Support security practices designed to safeguard user data, including encryption and anonymization.

• Work with enterprise application platforms and integrations involving business objects, business processes, integration objects, APIs, and data synchronization.

• Support application integrations involving HR data, organizational hierarchies, facilities management, space management, lease management, and workplace reservations.

• Support enterprise integrations involving Microsoft Exchange, Outlook, Graph API, and API gateway platforms.

• Support platform migration activities involving TRIRIGA and MREF, including API and connector integrations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

• 10+ years of IT experience.

• 8+ years of software development experience.

• Practical experience in two coding languages or advanced practical experience in one coding language.

• Experience with Java.

• Experience developing and working with REST APIs.

• Experience with JSON.

• Experience with Azure.

• Experience with Apache POI.

• Experience with AIPGEE.

• Experience developing and maintaining backend applications, APIs, and microservices.

• Experience working with database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB.

• Experience with cloud and/or on-premises application deployment.

• Experience with application integrations and enterprise data flows.
