Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and operate high-throughput backend systems that ingest, process, and serve large volumes of telematics data from connected vehicle fleets. This role works across distributed systems, data engineering, and API development to deliver reliable, low-latency services that support fleet intelligence products.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that process and expose telematics data, including GPS, trip events, driver behavior, vehicle diagnostics, and sensor telemetry.
Build and maintain real-time and batch data pipelines that ingest high-volume vehicle event streams from messaging systems such as Pub/Sub and Kafka.
Develop data pipelines that process and transform large-scale event data for downstream analytics.
Design and maintain data warehouse solutions.
Design, build, and consume RESTful or gRPC APIs.
Develop or integrate AI/ML models and rule-based expert systems.
Deploy and manage backend services on Google Cloud Platform.
Work with cloud-native application architectures using GCP services.
Develop and maintain scalable data processing and backend systems.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of IT experience.
5+ years of software development experience.
Practical experience in two programming languages or advanced practical experience in one programming language.
Bachelor's degree.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, and Cloud Functions.
Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Dataflow, or BigQuery.
Experience designing and maintaining data warehouse solutions such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
Experience developing or integrating AI/ML models and rule-based expert systems.
Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs.
Experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, or an equivalent JVM/backend language.
Experience with Spring Boot, gRPC, and REST API design.
Experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Redis, Bigtable, Kafka, or Pub/Sub.
Experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud platform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with TDD, MLOps-adjacent data pipeline patterns, database performance tuning, and API versioning.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with advanced GCP services such as Vertex AI, Dataflow, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and BigQuery ML.
Certification Program.
