    Job Description

    About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing and highly respected boutique employee benefits consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join its Health & Benefits practice. This is an opportunity to play a visible leadership role within a collaborative, entrepreneurial organization where high performers have the ability to make an immediate impact, build strong client relationships, and influence the firm's continued growth.

Unlike larger national firms, this organization offers significant exposure to leadership, a high degree of autonomy, and a clear path for professional advancement. The ideal candidate will bring deep health and welfare consulting expertise, exceptional client management skills, and a strong track record of delivering strategic solutions to employer groups.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the lead strategic advisor to a portfolio of employer clients, providing guidance on health and welfare benefit programs.
    • Develop and execute long-term benefits strategies aligned with clients' financial, organizational, and workforce objectives.
    • Lead annual renewal processes, including financial analysis, plan design development, carrier negotiations, and executive presentations.
    • Negotiate with insurance carriers, TPAs, PBMs, and other vendor partners to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
    • Analyze claims experience, utilization trends, benchmarking data, and cost drivers to develop actionable recommendations.
    • Present complex financial, clinical, and strategic information to executive leadership teams and key stakeholders.
    • Advise clients on fully insured, self-funded, level-funded, and alternative funding arrangements.
    • Partner closely with internal account management, analytics, compliance, and service teams to ensure exceptional client outcomes.
    • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support new business initiatives.
    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior consultants and account management professionals.
    • Stay current on evolving healthcare, compliance, and market trends affecting employer-sponsored benefit programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • 15+ years of employee benefits consulting, health and welfare consulting, or brokerage experience.
    • Proven success managing complex employer benefit programs and serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership teams.
    • Extensive experience with both fully insured and self-funded group health plans.
    • Strong carrier and vendor negotiation experience with a demonstrated ability to drive favorable client outcomes.
    • Deep knowledge of medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, wellness, and ancillary benefit programs.
    • Strong understanding of employee benefits regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
    • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to operate independently while partnering effectively within a team environment.

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience working with mid-market and large employer groups.
    • CEBS, RHU, GBA, or other industry designation preferred.
    • Experience advising executive leadership teams and participating in high-level strategic planning discussions.

    Why This Opportunity

    • Join a highly respected boutique consulting firm with a strong market reputation.
    • Gain greater visibility and influence than is often available within larger organizations.
    • Work directly with firm leadership and have a meaningful impact on the future growth of the practice.
    • Opportunity to stand out, take on leadership responsibilities, and advance your career.
    • Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that values expertise, initiative, and client service excellence.
    • Competitive compensation package with strong long-term growth potential.
