Join to apply for the Senior Budget Accounting Analyst role at Vanderbilt University .Position SummaryThis position will serve as team leader and back‑up for the Administrative Officer. The Senior Budget and Accounting Analyst is a key individual contributor responsible for facilitating the financial processes for PhD students in several programs across the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. The role acts as a Human Capital Manager for those individuals, ensuring onboarding and payment processes are completed, and ensures tuition, health insurance, and other financial activities are satisfied within the financial system.About the Work UnitThe Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) supports and coordinates graduate education, postdoctoral training, minority affairs, career development, and educational technology initiatives for the Vanderbilt biomedical research community. It includes the Office of Career Development ASPIRE Program and the Office of Outcomes Analysis and works closely with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, the Postdoctoral Association, and has extensive responsibility for training grant applications and administration.Key Functions and Expected PerformanceProvide human‑capital management for School of Medicine students as part of the HCM team.Onboard students, manage funding changes, and handle terminations.Process tuition, student fees, and health‑insurance payments in the PeopleSoft system each semester for graduate students in PhD programs.Create funding‑collection spreadsheets and support disbursements.Provide financial support to the BRET training‑grant team for students on BRET‑managed grants and fellowships.Track monthly HCM reports for accuracy and costing information.Monitor stipends and funding sources with upcoming project end dates.Interact with program managers to resolve registration and financial issues.Lead the HCM team, including training and updates on changes.Act as point of contact for unresolved issues, escalating to higher leadership when required.Maintain the BRET HCM transaction manuals.Partner with the Administrative Officer to resolve budgetary issues and communicate solutions.Serve as a resource on budgeting and financial reporting matters.Analyze and resolve Oracle and Student Accounts problems such as overpayment or non‑payment.Assist the Administrative Officer with other student system issues as needed.Support special tasks or projects as required.Supervisory RelationshipsThis position has no supervisory responsibility and reports administratively and functionally to the Administrative Officer.Education and CertificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent experience, is required.Experience and SkillsStrong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.Independent judgment and confidentiality management.Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects efficiently.Knowledge of human‑resources administration principles and practices (preferred).Knowledge of academic student policies, processes, and procedures (preferred).Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.Familiarity with Vanderbilt ERP (Oracle Cloud/SkyVU) and other VU systems (preferred).Seniority LevelMid‑Senior level.Employment TypeFull‑time.Job FunctionAccounting/Auditing and Finance.IndustriesHigher Education.#J-18808-Ljbffr
