Primary Duties and Responsibilities

UCLA Health is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead complex organizational improvement and process optimization initiatives across enterprise-wide programs and projects within the Faculty Practice Group's Program & Project Management Office (PPMO). This role is key to driving operational excellence by partnering with business units to assess performance, streamline workflows, and implement scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction. The position will support enterprise-wide initiatives by facilitating discovery, translating business requirements, and enabling data-driven improvements aligned with organizational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of business analysis and process improvement initiatives, from discovery and assessment through implementation and optimization
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to assess current-state processes, identify pain points, and develop future-state solutions
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of initiatives
  • Design and document workflows, process maps, and artifacts (e.g., flowcharts, SIPOC, value stream maps, RACI) to support operational improvement
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative stakeholders to align process improvements with organizational goals
  • Facilitate cross-functional workgroups to drive alignment, governance, and performance improvement
  • Support change management, communication strategies, and organizational readiness for new processes and initiatives
  • Conduct root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and implement solutions to eliminate inefficiencies and bottlenecks
  • Analyze resource allocation, capacity, and process performance to identify optimization opportunities
  • Provide reporting, data analysis, and executive-level presentations to demonstrate outcomes, ROI, and sustained improvements

Salary Range: $95,400 - $208,300/Annually

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience - REQUIRED
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification OR Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) from Association of Business Process Management Professionals (ABPMP) International - REQUIRED
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) - PREFERRED
  • Minimum five or more years of experience in operational excellence, business/process improvement, management consulting, or related field - REQUIRED
  • Three or more years of experience in healthcare, preferably within an academic medical center - PREFERRED
  • Master's degree (MPH, MHA, MBA, or related) - PREFERRED
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification - PREFERRED
  • Experience facilitating workshops, conducting business analysis, and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational development and change management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within established timelines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and process mapping/analysis tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams including clinical, administrative, and operational staff
  • Ability to define objectives, metrics, and outcomes in a measurable and structured manner
