Job Summary

The Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) organization is seeking a Business Analyst to support the development and execution of multi-year electric investment plans. This role focuses on business analysis, portfolio planning support, reporting, process improvement, and data-driven decision support. The analyst will work with cross-functional teams to analyze data, support investment planning activities, maintain portfolio records, and translate complex information into actionable insights for stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple systems, datasets, and planning processes. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a willingness to learn new tools and processes, and the ability to manage and maintain accurate planning documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on moderately complex data models using a variety of reporting and data sources.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and validate data to support business, operational, and investment planning activities.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, metrics, and ad-hoc analyses to support portfolio planning and business decisions.
  • Support portfolio-level analysis of capital investment plans, including evaluation of cost, risk, benefit, and funding considerations.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of investment scenarios, planning assumptions, and portfolio recommendations.
  • Support reporting and analysis associated with portfolio optimization outputs and planning tools (e.g., Copperleaf).
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests and support operational analysis activities.
  • Partner with Finance, Asset Management, Engineering, Planning, and Operations teams to gather information, align assumptions, and support planning initiatives.
  • Build and maintain automated data routines, reporting processes, and dashboards to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and QA/QC activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and auditability of portfolio data and reporting.
  • Track, document, and maintain records of investment, portfolio, and planning changes across multiple planning cycles.
  • Support business process documentation, requirements gathering, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain project, portfolio, and planning documentation within SharePoint and other enterprise repositories.
  • Assist with cataloging, documentation, and data management activities across multiple IGP initiatives.
  • Extract, analyze, and reconcile data from enterprise systems such as SAP, Foundry, GIS, and other planning platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process efficiencies.
  • Participate on project teams and support governance reviews, stakeholder meetings, and reporting activities.
  • Perform other ad-hoc analyses and reporting as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong business analysis and problem-solving skills: Experience analyzing data, identifying trends, developing recommendations, and supporting business decisions through reporting and analysis.
  • Organization, data management, and attention to detail: Experience maintaining documentation, tracking changes, managing records, reconciling data, and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and auditability.
  • Financial and planning acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, capital planning, investment planning, portfolio management concepts, or similar business processes.
  • Experience with SAP and/or other enterprise systems (Copperleaf, Foundry, GIS, or similar planning and portfolio management tools).
  • Strong Excel and Power BI skills for reporting, dashboards, data analysis, and KPI tracking.
  • Experience extracting, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data from multiple sources and systems.
  • Experience creating and maintaining reports, documentation, process flows, metrics, and business process deliverables.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, initiatives, and requests simultaneously.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills (preferably with experience working across Finance, Engineering, Planning, Asset Management, and Operations teams).
  • Learning agility and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes (e.g., Copperleaf, Foundry, IGP business processes).
  • Attention to detail with a focus on data quality, documentation, change tracking, and process discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience analyzing datasets and developing insights using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing documentation, records, and supporting multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Understanding of financial concepts such as cost, risk, budgeting, capital planning, or investment planning.
  • Experience supporting portfolio management, business planning, capital planning, or investment planning processes.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems such as SAP, Foundry, GIS, Copperleaf, or similar platforms.
  • Experience extracting, validating, and analyzing data from multiple enterprise systems.
  • Experience developing reports, KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with business process documentation, requirements gathering, and process improvement activities.
  • Experience in utility, energy, infrastructure, engineering, or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new tools, technologies, and business processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Power BI.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Local candidates only must be within the client's service territory.
  • Hybrid role: at least 2 days per week onsite at Oakland General Office.
  • Client laptop will be provided once available; a vendor-issued laptop is acceptable to access the client network via VPN/Citrix until a client laptop is issued.
  • No additional equipment will be provided; any additional equipment needed is the responsibility of the supplier.
  • Calls to be made via MS Teams.
