    Description

    Job Summary

    Continental Resources is an efficient organization with a rich asset base where talented, motivated individuals thrive. Continental's Business Development Group works on highly visible strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, capital investment programs and divestitures.

    The ideal candidate will serve as a financial and commercial representative within the Business Development Group, supporting the evaluation, structuring and execution of strategic opportunities. This individual will integrate technical, operational and financial information to develop investment analyses, assess transaction economics and provide recommendations to executive management.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs and leads financial and economic evaluations of acquisition, divestiture, joint venture and other strategic opportunities.
    • Serves as a financial and commercial representative on multidisciplinary transaction teams.
    • Develops, reviews and maintains detailed valuation models, cash flow forecasts, investment returns and transaction scenarios.
    • Integrates engineering, operational, commercial, accounting and market assumptions into comprehensive financial analyses.
    • Evaluates transaction structures, purchase price allocations, funding requirements and potential financial impacts.
    • Conducts financial lookbacks and post-investment reviews to compare actual performance against underwriting assumptions.
    • Performs sensitivity, scenario and risk analyses related to commodity prices, production, capital costs, operating expenses and other key value drivers.
    • Presents financial findings, transaction economics and strategic recommendations to executive management.
    • Supports acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and other corporate development projects from initial screening through execution.
    • Coordinates with engineering, operations, accounting, tax, finance, legal and other functional groups to validate assumptions and resolve evaluation issues.
    • Conducts research to identify investment opportunities, emerging market trends and changes in the competitive landscape.
    • Monitors and summarizes the financial and operational performance of competitors and relevant industry transactions.
    • Prepares internal management and Board of Directors reports and presentations.
    • Builds and maintains databases of transactions, valuation metrics, operating benchmarks and market information.
    • Supports financial and commercial evaluations of international assets and investment opportunities.
    • Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends when transaction activity requires.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering or business discipline.
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
    • Experience developing financial models and performing asset valuations, transaction analyses or investment evaluations.
    • Experience in corporate development, business development, investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, business strategy or management consulting.
    • Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry.
    • Experience evaluating joint ventures, partnerships or complex transaction structures.
    • Advanced knowledge with financial reporting, accounting, taxation, commodity pricing or capital markets concepts applicable to upstream oil and gas investments.
    • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master of Business Administration other advanced degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
    • International oil and gas experience, including the evaluation of assets, transactions or investment opportunities outside the United States.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
    • Experience with Microsoft Access, ARIES, business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Spotfire, GIS or statistical programming tools such as SAS, SPSS, Stata or R.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
