Position Summary: At Regions, the Business Systems Analyst serves as a key partner in supporting Debit Card Operations through data analysis, business intelligence, reconciliation, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This position leverages data mining, reporting tools, and operational analytics to identify trends, resolve operational issues, improve efficiencies, and support strategic business objectives. The analyst functions as a liaison between Card Operations, Technology, Finance, Fraud, and Vendor Partners to ensure data accuracy, operational effectiveness, and continuous process optimization. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, advanced reporting capabilities, and the ability to transform complex data into actionable business insights.
Primary Responsibilities: Analyze, interpret, and mine data from multiple systems to identify trends, operational risks, processing exceptions, and business opportunities; Design, develop, automate, and maintain recurring operational, executive, and regulatory reports; Build dashboards, scorecards, and reporting packages that provide meaningful insights into card performance, fraud trends, disputes, settlement activity, and operational metrics; Perform detailed reconciliation and balancing activities across processor reports, network settlements, general ledger accounts, and internal systems; Investigate, research, and resolve data discrepancies, out-of-balance conditions, and transaction exceptions; Gather business requirements and translate operational needs into reporting, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives; Document current and future state processes, workflows, and business requirements; Partner with business units and technology teams to implement operational efficiencies through automation and workflow improvements; Utilize SQL, reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms to support complex data analysis and reporting needs; Create process maps, trend analyses, and management presentations to support operational and strategic decision-making; Monitor operational performance metrics and recommend solutions to improve productivity, quality, and customer experience; Support testing, validation, and implementation of system upgrades, processor enhancements, and new card-related products and services; Identify root causes of operational issues and recommend corrective actions; Develop and maintain procedural documentation, job aids, and reporting standards; Report findings and recommendations to management while driving continuous improvement initiatives
