Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support a large-scale application modernization initiative. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects, QA teams, and operations to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and help drive successful delivery.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with APIs, microservices, application modernization, Agile/Scrum, Azure DevOps, user stories, acceptance criteria, and SQL. This is a hands-on Business Analyst role requiring someone who can comfortably bridge the gap between business requirements and technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements for application modernization initiatives.
  
• 
  Develop detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, workflows, and supporting documentation.
  
• 
  Translate business requirements into clear specifications for technical teams.
  
• 
  Support requirements involving APIs, microservices, system integrations, and data workflows.
  
• 
  Partner closely with developers, architects, QA testers, and operational teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  
• 
  Facilitate requirements and clarification sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
  
• 
  Manage and track backlog items using Azure DevOps Boards.
  
• 
  Support Agile/Scrum ceremonies and sprint objectives.
  
• 
  Provide light QA support by validating requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  
• 
  Assist with requirements traceability, testing, and validation throughout the project lifecycle.
  
• 
  Interpret basic SQL queries and understand relational data structures.
  
• 
  Communicate project requirements, changes, issues, and priorities clearly across business and technology teams.
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  7+ years of Business Analyst and/or Business Systems Analyst experience.
  
• 
  Strong experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
  
• 
  Experience developing requirements for APIs, system integrations, and application modernization initiatives.
  
• 
  Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  
• 
  Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Boards.
  
• 
  Proven ability to develop detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
  
• 
  Ability to interpret basic SQL queries and understand relational databases and data structures.
  
• 
  Experience working directly with developers, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
  
• 
  Strong process mapping, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  
• 
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  Experience supporting microservices-based applications or architectures.
  
• 
  Experience working within regulatory or compliance-driven environments.
  
• 
  Experience supporting complex enterprise application modernization programs.
  
• 
  Transportation or tolling industry experience is a plus.
