Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Buyer for an established manufacturing organization. This is a full-time, onsite position located in Buena Park, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Buyer will manage the acquisition of materials, components, tooling, outside processing, and services needed to support production and customer commitments. This position owns supplier sourcing, RFQ activity, negotiations, purchase order execution, delivery recovery, and supplier performance across assigned commodities. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing procurement experience, commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to proactively manage suppliers while partnering across planning, operations, engineering, quality, and finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute sourcing and purchasing strategies across assigned commodities, including materials, components, tooling, outside processing, production supplies, and services.

  • Prepare and issue RFQs, analyze supplier proposals, and negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, tooling, freight, payment terms, capacity, and other commercial conditions.

  • Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring quantities, pricing, due dates, specifications, revisions, quality requirements, and applicable documentation are accurate.

  • Monitor open orders and supplier commitments, proactively identify shortages and late deliveries, and drive expedites and recovery plans to protect production schedules and customer commitments.

  • Evaluate supplier performance across delivery, quality, responsiveness, cost, and risk; identify and qualify alternate sources and lead supplier improvement or escalation efforts as needed.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, and Finance to align purchasing priorities, resolve supplier or material issues, support new programs and production changes, and maintain accurate purchasing records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment, including hands-on responsibility for RFQs, purchase orders, supplier negotiations, and delivery or quality issue resolution.

  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, bills of material, drawings and specifications, inventory controls, lead times, and manufacturing material requirements.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate quotations, cost information, supplier performance, purchasing data, and sourcing alternatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent material requirements while maintaining strong documentation, accuracy, supplier relationships, and cross-functional communication.

  • Experience in complex, precision, or regulated manufacturing environments is preferred; familiarity with quality requirements, supplier controls, traceability, procurement compliance, and applicable export-control requirements is highly valued.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position offers a salary range of $90,000-$100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
