Senior Buyer

Location: East Haven, CT
Schedule: Full-time onsite | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $100,000+ with flexibility for the right candidate
Bonus: 7% bonus + profit-sharing opportunity

We are working with a long-standing, financially stable manufacturer looking to add a Senior Buyer to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong manufacturing experience who enjoys managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, and working closely with engineering and operations.

Senior Buyer Responsibilities

• 
  
• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including purchase orders, vendor management, expediting, and inventory requirements.
• 
  
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with domestic and international suppliers.
• 
  
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
• 
  
• Manage international purchasing and supply chain activities, including shipping logistics and order status.
• 
  
• Manage annual and semi-annual blanket orders.
• 
  
• Work closely with manufacturing and engineering to resolve supplier and quality issues.
• 
  
• Review inventory levels and purchasing requirements through the company's ERP system.
• 
  
• Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice and purchase order discrepancies.
• 
  
• Follow ISO 9001 procedures and assist with continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
• 
  
• Travel internationally approximately twice per year, including trips to China and India.
• 
  

Senior Buyer Qualifications

• 
  
• 5–7 years of purchasing/buyer experience within a manufacturing environment.
• 
  
• Experience working with machined and fabricated parts.
• 
  
• Strong vendor management, communication, and price negotiation skills.
• 
  
• Ability to read and understand mechanical/engineering drawings.
• 
  
• Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, inventory, and cost control.
• 
  
• ERP/MPS experience within a manufacturing environment.
• 
  
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
• 
  
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally as needed.
•
