Senior Buyer

LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Senior Buyer for a growing company in the Construction industry. This position is ideal for a procurement professional with expertise in sourcing construction materials, equipment, fleet-related purchases, and subcontractor services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting field operations, managing supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring materials and equipment are available to meet project schedules and customer commitments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement activities for construction materials, utility infrastructure components, equipment, tools, and operational supplies.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, distributors, subcontractors, and service providers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.

  • Negotiate contracts, purchase agreements, and pricing arrangements to maximize value while maintaining quality and service standards.

  • Collaborate with project managers, field operations, engineering, and finance teams to forecast material and equipment requirements.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material replenishment to support active projects and ongoing operations.

  • Source specialized materials and equipment required for utility, civil, electrical, gas, water, or infrastructure projects.

  • Evaluate supplier performance, tracking key metrics related to cost, quality, lead times, and delivery reliability.

  • Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain conditions to identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.

  • Expedite critical orders and resolve material shortages, delivery delays, or supplier issues that could impact project timelines.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor documentation, and procurement data within the company's ERP or purchasing systems.

  • Support bid preparation and project estimating activities by obtaining supplier quotes and pricing information.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency, inventory optimization, and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience within the construction, utility, infrastructure, engineering, or related industry.

  • Experience sourcing construction materials, heavy equipment, utility components, fleet assets, or contractor services.

  • Strong understanding of project-based procurement and the challenges associated with field operations and construction schedules.

  • Experience with ERP, MRP, or procurement software systems.

  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships effectively.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven purchasing decisions.

  • Knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, and cost-control practices.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across field and corporate teams.

Employment Type:

Full-Time

Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience

Schedule:

Monday through Friday
