The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior C/CAG Transportation Program Specialist to perform a variety of program administrative and technical support functions related to C/CAG transportation and land use programs.  

As part of an interdisciplinary team and under general supervision, this role involves managing and executing high-level, specialized projects. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and implementing countywide programs and policies, particularly those related to C/CAG initiatives. The role demands providing expert-level analysis and technical support on related legislation, along with overseeing a range of complex C/CAG programs and projects. The candidate will serve as a subject matter authority in transportation program areas, demonstrating broad expertise. 

The Senior C/CAG Transportation Program Specialist is the lead or specialist level class in the C/CAG Program Specialist Series. In the lead assignment, incumbents provide direction to C/CAG Program Specialist I/II staff, including assigning, directing, and reviewing their work. At this level, incumbents may provide supervision and leadership on a project or program basis to consultants/contractors, volunteers, and other staff including assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of professional staff. In the specialist assignment, incumbents work on dedicated projects or the largest, most visible, complex, and political assignments within the program. 

This position will support key program areas, including airport land use compatibility planning, transportation demand management (TDM) policy, community-based transportation planning, and active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian) programs.


The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to independently perform the full scope of required duties.
  • Familiarity with making presentations and recommendations to governmental agency boards, commissions, and committees.
  • Familiarity with public outreach and engagement processes or gathering input from the public.
  • Knowledge of bike or pedestrian plans.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, including Transportation Demand Management practices and policies.
