A bit about us:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead capital equipment projects that support manufacturing growth, improve operational efficiency, and drive continuous improvement within a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing projects from concept through production startup, including equipment selection, process design, installation, commissioning, and optimization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with strong project management experience and a passion for improving manufacturing performance while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Job Details

Lead capital equipment projects from concept, design, and procurement through installation, commissioning, and production startup.
Evaluate manufacturing capacity and identify equipment investments that support business growth and operational excellence.
Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for capital equipment, including extrusion, material handling, conveying systems, blending, automated packaging, robotics, and related manufacturing equipment.
Prepare RFQs and evaluate vendor proposals, technical capabilities, pricing, and project timelines.
Manage equipment procurement, vendor relationships, and project budgets.
Coordinate equipment installation, rigging, utility connections, startup activities, and production validation.
Oversee facility modifications involving electrical systems, compressed air, chilled water, process cooling, and material handling infrastructure.
Analyze manufacturing performance and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, improve quality, and maximize equipment efficiency.
Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to support continuous improvement and OEE initiatives.
Ensure all capital projects comply with OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, NFPA, ANSI, and other applicable safety standards.
Champion a strong safety culture by integrating safe design principles into every phase of project execution.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
7+ years of experience managing capital equipment projects within plastics, chemical, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Experience with plastics processing technologies such as extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, or similar manufacturing processes.
Proven experience leading equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and manufacturing startups.
Strong understanding of manufacturing process optimization, equipment validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience managing project schedules, budgets, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, LOTO procedures, machine guarding, NFPA, ANSI, and industrial safety requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
