Job Summary/Basic Function
Performs skilled and advanced carpentry work in support of the maintenance, repair, renovation, and safe operation of university facilities. Responsibilities include structural and finish carpentry, installation and repair of doors, frames, and commercial hardware systems, and maintenance of interior and exterior building components. This position supports compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and life safety standards, including maintenance of fire-rated assemblies and egress pathways. Work is performed in active academic, residential, and administrative environments and requires the ability to interpret blueprints and technical documents, coordinate with other trades, and execute work with minimal disruption to campus operations. Contributes to small renovation and capital improvement projects, assists with material planning and problem-solving, and may provide technical guidance to other staff to ensure quality workmanship and efficient project delivery.
Specific Responsibilities Required Relevant Education & Experience
Education: High School diploma or GED required; completion of a technical training program, vocational education, or carpentry apprenticeship preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years of carpentry experience in a commercial, institutional, or facilities maintenance environment, including experience with building repairs, installation of doors and hardware, and general maintenance of interior building systems.
