Position Specific Description

Our Integrated Supply Chain Department, within the Engineering, Construction & Supply Chain Business Unit, is seeking a Senior Category Specialist to join our team in Juno Beach, FL.

In this role, you will take a lead position in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracting for gas infrastructure projects across NextEra's federal hub portfolio. You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, leading complex negotiations, and managing supplier relationships to support the successful delivery of critical energy projects.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • Lead EPC/EPCM sourcing activities for major gas projects, including RFQ development, scope review (commercial and technical), bid evaluation, and contract negotiation to deliver optimal commercial outcomes while managing risk and supplier relationships.
  • Strong capability in working cross-functionally and engaging stakeholders across Engineering, Construction, and Supply Chain to support sourcing execution and drive alignment.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with stakeholders across business units, leadership, and suppliers by translating business objectives into sourcing strategies and driving cross functional alignment.
  • Proven experience planning and delivering end to end category initiatives, managing timelines, dependencies, and risks while maintaining a consistent intake to award cadence.
  • A results driven approach with a track record of delivering savings, improving supplier performance, and mitigating risk through disciplined reporting and follow through.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to connect category strategies to P&L impact, business risk, and operational outcomes.
  • Deep supplier management experience including market mapping, developing strategic partnerships, supplier performance management, and driving continuous improvement across a complex supply base.
  • High proficiency with analytical tools and the ability to convert complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.

Job Overview

This role develops and refines defined category strategies for critical and/or more complex categories. Employees in this role lead negotiations and identify improvements to secure cost savings and improve quality and efficiency. An individual in this role would also be expected to mentor category specialists and establishes benchmarks and expectations for category strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 4+ years
