Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, the Senior Center Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation, programming, and administration of the senior center. This position oversees staff, programs, and daily facility operations, ensuring high-quality services for older adults. The role includes planning and implementing programs, as well as coordinating senior center related events. Considerable knowledge of the principles and objectives of recreation facility operations and programs, senior citizen programs and activities, specialist classes, and special event programming. Knowledge of effective public relations, program development and promotions. Considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations for facility operations, required staff training and certification, and senior citizen activities and interests. Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures. Ability to plan and coordinate recreational, educational, and wellness programs tailored for the senior population.Ability to train and supervise employees and volunteers assigned to center programs and facility operations.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Ability to use a computer and its various programs and other office equipment. These programs are not limited to Canva, Youtube Editor/Studio, Instagram and Facebook.Must possess and maintain a valid Utah drivers license. Requires a Bachelors Degree in recreation management, gerontology, or a related field and two years of experience in program development and coordination, preferably with older adults. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Requires a minimum of one year supervisory experience managing staff and programs focused on older adults. Maintains a valid Utah Drivers License. Will observe all traffic regulations, follow City policy and be a safe, courteous and responsible driver while operating City vehicles. Must wear a seat belt and make certain that other passengers are in seatbelts when the vehicle is in operation. Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience. The City also provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
