    Senior Civil Designer

    Long-Term Contract Opportunity Location: Bloomington, MN

    Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer to support a long-term contract opportunity in Bloomington, Minnesota. This role will lead civil design activities across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting planning, site evaluations, analytical design, construction documentation, and project delivery efforts.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil design, strong technical expertise with industry design software, and the ability to lead design efforts while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.

    Position Responsibilities
    • Lead various phases of civil design projects, including planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical design, report preparation, specifications, construction documentation, and environmental planning.
    • Manage and support civil project designs including: site development and grading, land development, roadway design, storm drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, traffic control, airport and facility design.
    • Lead drawing production efforts including problem analysis, design layouts, and calculations for complex and non-routine assignments.
    • Develop design drawings using established methods, standards, and best practices, including drawing sequencing, presentation, system sizing, and refinement of preliminary concepts.
    • Perform quality reviews of designs, sketches, and markups for ongoing projects.
    • Interpret design codes, standards, and specifications to ensure project compliance.
    • Prepare and present reports, maps, drawings, testing information, and topographical/geologic data to support project planning and design.
    • Lead civil design efforts within established project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
    • Review and verify calculations related to excavation, dredging, and site grading volumes.
    • Incorporate project schedules, budgets, and design criteria into civil layouts and deliverables to support financial and project objectives.
    • Maintain organized project documentation, including drawing revisions, plot files, and project-related information.
    • Support and mentor junior designers and assist with staff development.
    • Participate in project planning, marketing, and client development activities.
    • Manage and support civil design quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned while maintaining compliance with company policies and project standards.
    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology, Civil Design, or a related field with 13+ years of relevant experience; or Associate degree with 14+ years of related experience; or 15+ years of progressive civil detailing and design experience.
    • Field experience is highly desirable.
    • Advanced proficiency with civil design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Microsoft Excel.
    • Advanced knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and design systems.
    • Strong understanding of civil engineering theories, practices, standards, and design methodologies.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of related disciplines as they impact civil design deliverables.
    • Experience producing detailed design drawings and technical documentation.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other technical professionals in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
    Additional Requirement
