We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager to lead multi-discipline land development projects in our Newark, NJ office.If you are a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical expertise, proven leadership experience, and a passion for client service, this is an opportunity to lead impactful projects from concept through construction while helping grow our private development practice.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and manage multiple land development projects for a diverse portfolio of private-sector clientsServe as the Civil Engineer of Record, coordinating with internal and external disciplines as requiredOversee all phases of project delivery, including planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction administrationPrepare proposals and fee estimates for new and existing clientsSupport business development and account growth by attending events to develop opportunitiesDevelop and review land development plans, engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reportsCoordinate with regulatory agencies to secure permits for large‑scale, complex projectsPresent at client meetings, public hearings, and community sessions as neededMonitor project budgets, contracts, invoicing, and financial performanceDelegate and manage workload for staff, providing mentorship in stormwater management (SWM), utility coordination, and erosion & sediment control (E&SC) designPromote quality assurance, innovation, and continuous improvement within project teamsBasic RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline12+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering with a focus on land development and permittingActive Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey (additional state licensure a plus)Demonstrated success managing projects, staff, and client relationshipsPreferred QualificationsProven ability to manage multi‑discipline engineering projects.Advanced expertise in design, permitting, and regulatory compliance processes.Experience with wet utilities (water and wastewater systems) and water resources projects (e.g., stream and waterway restoration).Strong proficiency in engineering and analytical tools, including AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS (ArcGIS/ArcInfo), and related CADD platforms.Experience with H&H modeling software such as HydroCAD, InfoSWMM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and SewerGEMS.Advanced skills in project scheduling, cost estimation, budgeting, and resource allocation.Working knowledge of contract preparation and contract management practices.Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, including technical writing expertise.Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.Why Pennoni?At Pennoni, we are more than a multi‑disciplinary engineering firm — we are a team of forward‑thinking professionals shaping the future of infrastructure and community development.
