Overview:Our client, an engineering firm specializing in renewable energy, water, and environmental solutions, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects, including dam rehabilitation, stream restoration, fish passage, and renewable energy developments. This role involves overseeing multidisciplinary teams, managing project scope, schedule, and budget, and providing construction support from concept through completion. Qualified candidates will have a BS in Civil Engineering or a related field, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D expertise, and experience leading civil site development and infrastructure projects.
This full-time position is open to candidates located in Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; Pittsfield, Maine; Falmouth, Maine; and Madison, Wisconsin.Responsibilities:- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects involving dam removals, embankment dam repairs, fish passage facilities, stream restorations, recreation facilities, and renewable energy developments.
- Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, material schedules, quantity takeoffs, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery, technical accuracy, and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality reviews for engineering staff throughout project execution.
- Perform civil site design for roadways, drainage systems, land development, and water resources infrastructure projects.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, data collection, engineering analyses, and construction support activities.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare alignments, profiles, grading plans, earthwork models, and design deliverables.
- Collaborate with scientists, analysts, engineers, and regulatory stakeholders to develop innovative project solutions.
- Review and apply hydraulic and hydrologic modeling results to support project planning and design.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, presentations, and construction observation documentation.
Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience developing and reviewing construction drawings, specifications, technical details, material schedules, and quantity takeoffs.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading design, corridor modeling, profiles, alignments, and earthwork analysis.
- Experience with civil site development, roadway and drainage design, land development, dam decommissioning, stream restoration, and/or fish passage engineering.
- Proven ability to lead engineering projects, coordinate design development, and manage technical quality and project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring staff, and managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and client interaction skills.
- Ability to conduct field work, site visits, and construction support activities.
- Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience with project leadership responsibilities.
- Project management experience on complex infrastructure or water resources projects.
- Knowledge of CSI-format specifications and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with AACE cost estimating methodologies and Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (OPCC) development.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SRH-2D, or HydroCAD.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and Autodesk Revit.
