Position: Senior Civil Litigation Defense Attorney

Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation: Up to $250,000 / year (commensurate with experience)

About the Opportunity

An established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Defense Attorney with 8 to 10 years of practice to join its team in Oakland, CA. This role offers a diverse, high-level defense practice, flexibility through a hybrid work setup, and competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a robust litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including trial preparation and dispute resolution.

• Handle a diverse litigation practice, including insurance defense, employment defense, business litigation, and toxic tort claims.

• Conduct and defend depositions of key witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.

• Draft substantive pleadings, dispositive motions, legal briefs, and complex discovery.

• Represent clients directly in court appearances, oral arguments, settlement negotiations, and mediations.

• Meet an annual requirement of 1,950 billable hours while delivering top-tier legal representation.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Active license in good standing with the State Bar of California (required).

• Experience: 8 to 10 years of dedicated civil litigation defense experience.

• Practice Areas: Proven background across insurance defense, employment law, business litigation, or toxic tort defense.

• Skills: Exceptional legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and strategic case management capabilities.
