Zolon is a prime contractor with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), supporting a multi-year initiative focused on software development, business intelligence, ERP modernization, cloud operations, and infrastructure optimization. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud/Infrastructure team. This role will support the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions across both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure environments.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure, automation, operational monitoring, cybersecurity documentation, and system reliability across enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, administer, and support cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
Support cloud-based operations, including systems analysis, infrastructure optimization, operational readiness, and system vulnerability analysis.
Manage and maintain cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and backup/recovery capabilities.
Support and maintain containerized workloads and orchestration platforms, including hands-on Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting.
Build, configure, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tooling to improve infrastructure efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
Support backup, disaster recovery, continuity of operations (COOP), and resiliency planning efforts to ensure continuity of government operations.
Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and cybersecurity-related documentation.
Partner with Security, Governance, and Architecture teams to ensure compliance with agency requirements, cybersecurity standards, and operational best practices.
Monitor cloud environments for performance, cost optimization, security risks, and operational health.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for cloud infrastructure incidents and performance issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to support cloud modernization and migration efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering or cloud infrastructure experience preferred.
Strong hands-on experience with both AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deployment, administration, troubleshooting, and operational support.
Experience supporting AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, EKS, backup/recovery, and networking components.
Experience supporting Azure services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Azure Active Directory, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Monitor, storage, and identity management.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
Experience supporting cloud monitoring, logging, automation, and operational support functions.
Strong understanding of cloud security, cybersecurity documentation, vulnerability management, and compliance best practices.
Experience supporting continuity of operations (COOP), backup systems, and disaster recovery planning.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Mandatory Certifications (One Required):
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional OR
AWS SysOps Administrator Associate

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting federal government contracts.
Familiarity with federal security standards such as FISMA, NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP.
Azure cloud certifications preferred.
Experience with CI/CD, automation, or DevSecOps practices.
Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and cloud modernization initiatives.

Clearance: Ability to obtain Public Trust tier 4
