Position Summary
Lagun Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machinery at customer facilities and in-house. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience working with CNC equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and configure CNC machines at customer sites.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on CNC equipment.
- Troubleshoot CNC controllers, servo systems, spindle systems, and machine components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Calibrate and test machines to ensure proper operation and accuracy.
- Provide customer training on machine operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Document service calls, repairs performed, parts used, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with technical support and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory of replacement parts.
- Travel to customer locations as required, including occasional overnight travel.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience servicing CNC machines.
- Strong knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Heidenhain, Fagor or similar).
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V.
- Mechanical aptitude including bearings, ball screws, spindle assemblies, lubrication systems, and machine alignment.
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
- Strong computer skills and ability to complete electronic service reports.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in manufacturing environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with machining and turning centers.
- Knowledge of G-code and machine programming.
- Precision alignment using dial indicators, laser alignment, and calibration equipment.
- Networking and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Travel up to 50% or as needed.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends when required to support customers.
