Step into a hands-on role keeping complex CNC and manual machines performing at their best. You’ll plan, install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment while modeling safe work practices and partnering tightly with production to minimize downtime.

Role snapshot

  • Title: Senior CNC Machine Tool Maintenance Technician
  • Location: Alsip, IL (onsite)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (weekends as needed)
  • Starting Pay: $36.40 per hour
  • Employment Type: Full-time, hourly (union—closed shop, IAMAW District No. 8)

What you’ll tackle

  • Own safety first—follow procedures, champion a safe culture, report hazards, and keep work areas orderly per preventive maintenance standards.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, layouts, and mechanical prints to diagnose issues and guide work.
  • Lead installs, removals, and relocations of machinery and supporting systems.
  • Read and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic schematics; identify repair paths and execute fixes.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout every time equipment is serviced.
  • Pitch in on additional tasks that keep the operation running smoothly.

Experience we’re looking for

  • 3+ years in manufacturing working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience with CNC and manual machine tools. High School Diploma, Trade school certification, or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, plus heating, cooling, and general building systems.
  • 2+ years reading blueprints/mechanical prints and electrical schematics, including wiring diagrams.
  • 2+ years using precision measuring devices (micrometers, gauges, meters, calipers, etc.).

  • Clear written and verbal communication; proficient in English.

Preferences

HS Diploma or GED Equivalent Preferred.

Work setting and physical demands

  • Onsite industrial environment with noise, heat/cold, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Kneel, bend, climb ladders, work in confined areas; extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Comfort working at height (e.g., on a scissor lift).

Compensation details

Pay Range: Starting pay will be $23.10 - $35.00 per hour based on experience. This is a full-time, hourly position.

The range reflects multiple factors considered in compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, certifications/licensure, and business needs. The estimate does not include geographic differentials for the role’s location. At Ingersoll Rand, it is uncommon for hires to start at the top of the range; offers are based on individual circumstances.

Union relationship

  • Closed shop, partnering with District No. 8 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
  • First 60 working days are probationary.
  • After probation, employees join the union via initiation.
  • Union employees receive a comprehensive benefits package per the agreement.

This position is fully onsite at our Alsip, IL facility.
