Senior COBOL Developer (Onsite)

We’re looking for a Senior COBOL Developer for an onsite role in Columbia, SC. Candidate MUST be a CURRENT SC, NC, or GA Resident AND be willing to relocate to SC at least 5 business days prior to the start date at their own expense.

Work Authorization: U.S. citizens and Green Card holders only. Sponsorship is not available for this role; no C2C or third-party candidates. Candidates must be able to work on our W2.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 10 years of experience with:
  • Visual COBOL and/or Micro Focus COBOL
  • Computer system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation techniques and practices for developing new systems or modifying existing systems
  • Developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based client-server environment
  • Leading a technical software development team in planning and deployment of software systems
  • Coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems in an Oracle SQL database and Windows-based client-server environment
  • Providing Level 3 (L3) production support
  • Functioning as the primary contact with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications and ensure delivery of specified functionality
• 1+ years of experience with Visual COBOL V9

• Experience with Oracle 19 SQL
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET/C# development environment
• Experience working in a governmental environment
• Preferred Certifications: Visual COBOL technical certifications

• Analyze the core business system and assigned tickets for development and/or system modification
• Take the lead in analyzing and proposing solutions to assigned tickets and projects
• Partner with business units to develop business specifications, translate those business specifications into technical specifications, and obtain business sign-off of specifications
• Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users, ensuring that solution meets requirements as documented in the specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline with 10 years of experience preferred 

The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000.
