Job Summary

The Senior Account Executive interacts with clients on a day-to-day basis while building and maintaining relationships with both client and carrier representatives. This role supports a Construction-focused commercial insurance book of business, working with contractors, developers, and other construction-related clients to manage complex risk management and insurance needs. Responsibilities include preparing applications, specifications, and marketing strategies for new and renewal business, with some supervision and approval from the supervisor. This role may serve as the lead consultant and primary point of contact for assigned clients and may have revenue goals and/or client retention targets.

Work Location This is a full-time position offering the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, available from any of the following office locations: Albany, Amherst, Kingston, Rochester/Pittsford, Fishkill, NY, or Danbury, CT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Negotiates terms, conditions, coverage limits, and pricing with carriers and wholesalers.
• Works with the Claims Department on relevant claims for assigned clients.
• Prepare client proposals, according to NFP standardization, from carrier quotes that reflect an accurate presentation of coverage terms, pricing, exposure basis, renewal comparisons, and marketing results. Highlight coverage gaps or differences to ensure clients understand any potential limitations in coverage.
• Responsible for obtaining and maintaining accurate exposure information, including payroll, sales, subcontractor costs, driver information, reporting forms, signed endorsements, and other data necessary to avoid E&O claims.
• Maintains a diary (follow-up system) to ensure policies, endorsements, certificates, and other information are received and processed in accordance with client requests.
• May supervise or direct the daily job activities of Coordinators and Account Managers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and clients through regular contact and client visits. Keep clients apprised of industry trends, market conditions, and state and federal regulatory issues impacting the construction industry.

Education and/or Experience

• Typically, more than 5 years of Commercial Lines experience. This must include recent tenure with a retail insurance brokerage or independent agency.
• Experience managing a book of middle-market accounts (estimated revenue minimum of 1 Million) is required.
• Experience servicing construction-related clients, including general contractors, trade contractors, developers, or other construction risks, is strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including General Liability, Workers'' Compensation, Commercial Auto, Umbrella/Excess Liability, Property, Builders Risk, Contractor''s Equipment, and related construction exposures.
• Understanding of marketplace trends and best practices to meet clients'' needs.
• Proven ability to prepare and analyze loss summaries to support renewals and client strategy.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with EPIC preferred or other CRM required.
• BA/BS preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

• P&C Insurance License required.
• CIC, CPCU, ARM, or other industry designation preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $77,200 -$110,000 The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
