This position, with potential placement in Eufaula, AL or Alpharetta, GA, requires a strategic approach to managing the procurement of vital materials and services. You will spearhead the development and execution of international supply chain strategies aimed at establishing and nurturing supplier partnerships, optimizing supplier count, managing assets effectively, and enhancing quality and delivery performance. Your expertise will drive operational excellence and support innovative product development.
CORE DUTIES
- Skillfully negotiate and administer detailed procurement contracts focused on cost savings and timely delivery. Conduct and lead negotiations for complex sourcing contracts, ensuring comprehensive documentation of legally binding agreements.
- Establish and guide a strategic supply network to meet organizational goals related to cost efficiency, cash management, service quality, and technical advancements.
- Forge and maintain robust supplier relationships to achieve price efficiency, material availability, and inventory objectives. Proactively address and resolve quality issues by collaborating with suppliers.
- Engage in thorough supplier assessment, continuous evaluation, and performance management, including conducting credit and organizational reviews, site audits, and developing performance metrics.
- Oversee the procurement and evaluation of materials essential for various stages of product design, facilitating supplier information collection, arranging engineering samples, and supporting new product introductions as a materials resource.
- Design and implement procurement strategies, ensuring seamless transition of existing and new business to strategic suppliers to enhance client satisfaction.
- Set inventory targets while monitoring and adjusting forecasts to align with demand fluctuations, minimizing obsolete stock.
- Lead Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) initiatives and foster collaboration among suppliers and internal departments such as Production, Quality, and Finance.
- Research emerging product/process technologies, influencing design and material choices to deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
- Analyze external economic, logistical, and environmental factors to manage their impact on cost and performance over short and long term.
- Provide strategic guidance to procurement team members and ensure compliance with all regulatory and shipping requirements. Also, assign Harmonized Tariff Codes to purchased parts.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, imparting knowledge to inform business strategies in the sourcing and purchasing landscape.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in managing complex procurement contracts and vendor negotiations
- Proven leadership skills with capacity to mentor teams and build influence
- Strong relationship management abilities, with expertise in negotiation, problem-solving, and understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Experience with MRP and JD Edwards (JDE) systems, familiarity with both domestic and international logistics
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally
