Job Responsibilities

This position will serve as the lead developer and manager of visual, digital, and multimedia communications that support the State Treasurer's Office and its consumer programs, advancing the agency's comprehensive communications strategy and public engagement efforts.

As a Senior Communications Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Executes the visual and digital components of the agencys comprehensive communications strategy to facilitate effective, timely and impactful informational, communications and marketing.
  • Develops digital media content, agency branding, videography, photography print collateral materials and social media for the State Treasurer's Office and its Consumer Programs.
  • Assists with writing and editing press releases, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, reports and other communications for release to the media or general public.
  • Develops and maintains reporting and analytics measures to validate the effectiveness and impact of visual and digital communications efforts as they relate to the execution of the agencys communications strategy.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Previous communications experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exemplary writing, editing and proofreading skills are essential.
  • Strong knowledge of external communications theory and best practices.
  • Superior media relations and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial and technical issues in order to work with subject matter experts to communicate the information in relevant, compelling and easily absorbed manner to the general public.
  • Experience with print and digital media.
  • Ability to manage sensitive, high-stakes situations with discretion, sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Comments

May require occasional in-state travel and very limited overnight travel. Must be able to safely lift and carry files, supplies, boxes, etc. weighing up to 20 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment.
