UTMB's Office of Institutional Compliance plays a vital role in ensuring that the institution operates with integrity, transparency, and adherence to federal and regulatory standards. This team partners closely with faculty, leadership, and departments across the institution to support conflict of interest management, adherence to ethical principles, compliance with research security and undue foreign influence requirements, and institutional regulatory oversight in support of the institution's mission.
The primary purpose of the Senior Compliance Analyst for Conflicts of Interest is (1) to serve as a subject matter expert on state, federal, and institutional regulations and policies related to Conflicts of Interest (COI), ethics, Research Security, Undue Foreign Influence, and Research Compliance; (2) to assist the Associate Vice President, Office of Institutional Compliance, in providing the strategic vision for the institution's COI, Ethics, and Research Compliance program; and (3) to serve as an institutional key resource for COI and compliance-related analysis, review, and guidance.
The Senior Compliance Analyst for Conflicts of Interest position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and detail-oriented environment while serving as a primary point of contact for compliance-related questions and information. Success in this position requires strong analytical and organizational skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance processes. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while serving as a reliable source of guidance and problem-solving.
Job Duties:
Coordinate and conduct reviews of compliance activities of UTMB departments for the Office of Institutional Compliance (OIC) to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of COI disclosures, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, federal regulations, and UT System guidance.
Coordinate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders across the institution to identify, evaluate, and manage potential conflicts while supporting processes related to management plans, committee meetings, annual certifications, and database oversight.
Support the institution's Research Security program by reviewing state and federal regulations and UT System guidance as it relates to undue foreign influence and research compliance.
Review forms, sponsored research activities, and respond to inquiries regarding research security regulations and institutional policies.
Provide training and education to the institution on relevant COI, ethics, research security, and research compliance matters.
Support compliance investigations and international collaboration activities, partnering with leadership within the Office of Institutional Compliance on sensitive and complex matters requiring sound judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Functional Specialty Responsibilities:
Other Duties as Assigned: Performing special projects and/or other duties as assigned or as requested by the Associate Vice President, Office of Institutional Compliance; Chief Compliance Officer; or the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, including, without limitation, assisting other parts of the Compliance Program on legal and regulatory matters, and assisting with investigations or reviews.

Working Environment:
This position is remote within Texas only. Candidates outside of the State of Texas must be willing to relocate. Occasional on-site presence required.(Once a month)
