Behavior Frontiers
Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000
Position Summary
The Compliance Analyst is an experienced healthcare compliance professional responsible for supporting the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the Compliance Program while actively monitoring state and federal regulatory requirements, Medicaid and payer obligations, and other compliance developments that affect organizational operations. The role operationalizes Compliance Program requirements, evaluates the impact of new and changing obligations, and partners with accountable business owners to translate requirements and identified gaps into policies, procedures, training, implementation plans, and corrective actions. The Analyst tracks remediation through completion, validates supporting evidence, and formally transitions completed remediation to the Auditing and Monitoring team for independent testing and ongoing oversight. This is a senior healthcare compliance and regulatory role—not a data-management or reporting-only position—and requires demonstrated experience implementing Compliance Program requirements and owning regulatory change and corrective action workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Support implementation and ongoing administration of the Compliance Program, including policies and procedures, training and education, regulatory communications, issue management, corrective action, compliance reporting, and cross-functional program initiatives.
· Maintain active surveillance of applicable federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, Medicaid requirements, licensing standards, regulatory guidance, enforcement activity, and payer or contractual obligations.
· Monitor, analyze, and coordinate implementation of Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) requirements and assigned major payer obligations.
· Assess regulatory changes and audit or monitoring findings to determine applicability, compliance risk, affected processes, required actions, responsible owners, and implementation deadlines.
· Translate complex requirements into concise impact assessments, implementation plans, assigned action items, and practical guidance for operational teams.
· Lead regulatory change workflows from identification through verified implementation, including documenting decisions, dependencies, approvals, evidence, and closure criteria.
· Initiate, develop, and manage corrective action plans for identified compliance gaps; establish milestones, owners, due dates, evidence requirements, and escalation paths.
· Track action items and corrective action plans through completion, challenge insufficient responses, escalate overdue or high-risk items, and validate that remediation evidence addresses the underlying requirement or finding.
· Prepare completed remediation packages and formally hand them off to the Auditing and Monitoring team for independent validation, effectiveness testing, and ongoing monitoring.
· Draft, review, and coordinate updates to compliance policies, procedures, standards, and related implementation materials to reflect regulatory requirements, identified risks, and approved corrective actions.
· Partner with Clinical, Operations, Billing and Authorizations, Credentialing, Human Resources, Training, Legal, and other stakeholders to implement regulatory requirements and corrective actions.
· Support regulatory examinations, payer audits, licensing reviews, external inquiries, evidence collection, response development, and post-review remediation.
· Maintain defensible regulatory inventories, compliance calendars, action logs, corrective action records, implementation evidence, and decision documentation.
· Prepare concise status reports for Compliance leadership that identify material changes, open risks, overdue actions, implementation barriers, and matters requiring escalation.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Compliance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Nursing, or a related field.
· Five or more years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance or regulatory affairs, including direct responsibility for monitoring and implementing state and federal requirements.
· Demonstrated experience translating regulatory requirements or compliance findings into assigned action items, implementation plans, and corrective action plans.
· Demonstrated experience driving remediation across business teams, following actions through completion, validating supporting evidence, and escalating delays or deficiencies.
· Experience preparing completed remediation for handoff to an auditing, monitoring, internal audit, or quality-assurance function for independent validation.
· Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks, Medicaid requirements, payer oversight, audit response, and corrective action methodology.
· Strong regulatory analysis, professional writing, project ownership, stakeholder management, judgment, and follow-through skills.
· Ability to independently manage competing regulatory deadlines and communicate requirements and risk clearly to operational and executive audiences.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and compliance tracking tools; advanced data analysis skills are helpful but are not the primary focus of this role.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in behavioral health, applied behavior analysis (ABA), Medicaid, managed care, or a multi-site healthcare provider setting.
· Experience working with DWIHN, Michigan Medicaid, Medicaid managed care organizations, or other healthcare payers.
· Experience serving in a compliance or regulatory second-line role that partners with operational owners and coordinates handoff to an auditing or monitoring function.
· Experience managing regulatory change across multiple states, service lines, payers, or locations.
· CHC, CHPC, CCEP, CHRC, RHIA, RHIT, or a comparable professional certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Advanced knowledge of healthcare compliance, regulatory change management, Medicaid requirements, payer oversight, and corrective action practices.
· Ability to distinguish among regulatory obligations, operational preferences, audit findings, and compliance risks, and to recommend a proportionate response.
· Ability to convert complex requirements into specific, measurable actions with accountable owners, deadlines, evidence standards, and closure criteria.
· Strong professional judgment, the ability to constructively challenge and escalate issues, attention to detail, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
· Ability to work independently, maintain defensible documentation, and move regulatory and corrective action work to timely closure.
Success Measures
· Applicable state and federal regulatory changes are identified early, accurately assessed, and translated into timely implementation actions.
· Action items and corrective action plans have clear owners, deadlines, evidence requirements, and documented closure criteria.
· Overdue, incomplete, or ineffective remediation is challenged and escalated promptly based on risk.
· Completed remediation packages are fully documented and ready for independent review by the Auditing and Monitoring team.
· Regulatory inventories, decision records, action logs, and corrective action documentation are complete, current, and defensible.
· Compliance leadership receives concise, actionable reporting on regulatory change, open risk, remediation status, and implementation barriers.
Why This Role Matters
This position provides experienced regulatory ownership from the moment a requirement is identified through independent audit validation. By converting healthcare obligations and compliance findings into accountable action, driving corrective measures to closure, and creating a clear handoff to Auditing and Monitoring, the role strengthens implementation discipline, audit readiness, and sustained compliance across programs and locations.
