Position Overview:
International Motors is looking for a Senior Compliance Engineer – Manufacturing and Product Compliance to help ensure our commercial vehicles and engines meet regulatory, certification, quality, and compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, product development, and data analytics. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Program teams to identify compliance risks, evaluate engineering and manufacturing changes, investigate build and product issues, and develop solutions that keep our products compliant from development through production and into the field.
You’ll also use data and digital tools such as Power BI, Databricks, SQL, and Python to identify trends, monitor compliance performance, improve reporting, and proactively manage product and manufacturing compliance risks.

Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing and product compliance activities across engine and vehicle production, ensuring regulatory and certification requirements are maintained.
- Review manufacturing build records, emissions data, label build-error reports, and other production data to identify compliance risks, trends, and recurring issues.
- Evaluate and approve customer requests, engineering changes, manufacturing changes, and product updates to ensure regulatory and certification requirements are maintained.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Service, and Program teams to investigate product and production compliance issues and develop practical technical solutions.
- Provide engineering and regulatory guidance throughout the product development, launch, production, and product lifecycle.
- Support engine and vehicle emissions exemption processes, including regulatory tracking, documentation, reporting, and coordination with government agencies.
- Support product certification, regulatory submissions, compliance milestones, and agency reporting.
- Identify potential compliance issues during product development and manufacturing and work cross-functionally to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate the compliance impact of new products, engineering changes, manufacturing processes, components, and vehicle configurations.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and digital analytics solutions to monitor manufacturing and product compliance performance.
- Use SQL, Python, Databricks, and other data tools to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and proactively manage compliance risk.
- Help strengthen Product Compliance Management Systems and processes that support compliance from product development through production and field operation.
- Lead assigned compliance projects and cross-functional workstreams, managing timelines, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve compliance processes, manufacturing controls, data quality, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare technical documentation, regulatory reports, presentations, and recommendations for engineering leadership and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 1 year of product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Desired Skills:
Regulatory & Compliance Expertise
- 1+ years of experience supporting emissions compliance, certification, or regulatory programs within the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
- Experience with EPA, CARB, and/or ECCC emissions regulations and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of engine and vehicle exemption process
- Understanding of vehicle certification processes, regulatory submissions, and compliance milestones.
- Familiarity with emerging EV/ZEV regulations and alternative powertrain compliance requirements.
Technical Engineering Knowledge
- Understanding of diesel and commercial vehicle powertrain systems.
- Knowledge of emissions control technologies including SCR, DPF, DOC, LNT, and EGR systems.
- Understanding of vehicle validation, certification testing, and regulatory compliance processes.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into engineering actions.
Data Analytics & Digital Skills
- Proficiency in Excel, including data analysis, visualization, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with data analytics and visualization tools, including Power BI or similar platforms, and data processing/query tools such as SQL, Python, MATLAB, Databricks, or equivalent technologies.
Quality, Risk & Process Improvement
- Knowledge of quality management systems including ISO 9001 and environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.
- Understanding of risk management principles and compliance risk mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Communication & Leadership
- Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing regulatory documentation and engineering reports.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to engineering, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, influence stakeholders, and lead collaborative initiatives.
Industry Experience
- Commercial vehicle, heavy-duty truck, automotive, or related transportation industry experience required.
- Experience supporting vehicle development programs, certification timing, and engineering validation activities.
- Knowledge of industry trends related to emissions regulations, electrification, and future mobility technologies.
