Job Title: Senior Component Design Engineer (RPA) – Contract
Type: Contract
Compensation: $56.00 - $95.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Remote – offsite
Responsibilities
- Design solutions for reactor structures and components, including the rotatable plug assembly equipment, from requirements through final design
- Coordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to develop equipment and component design solutions
- Perform scoping analysis and calculations for various design options
- Interface with engineering analysis activities and present design results for reviews
- Assess the technical merit of solutions and lead design reviews
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers to resolve design and fabrication issues
- Apply nuclear industry best practices to maintain high-quality engineering design and suggest process improvements
Requirements - B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (minimum of eight years of equipment/component design experience; relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experience)
- Extensive experience with equipment and component design, including familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III
- Experience writing detailed design specifications
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Proficiency in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis, and tools like ANSYS
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking abilities
- Ability to independently solve challenging problems and work on multiple tasks concurrently
- Familiarity with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
- High level of trust, integrity, and teamwork orientation
- Preferred skills include experience with slewing ring bearings and elastomeric seals
