Senior Component Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Component Engineer.

What you will do in the position:

• Component Engineering

• Provides component level expertise and consulting to design engineers including research of parts, contacting vendors, obtaining samples, procuring and coordinating prototype parts, assigning HME part numbers and developing BOMs.

• Works with design engineers and teams to ensure the use of high quality, high reliability, cost-effective components in new designs.

• Coordinates part obsolescence resolution and part substitutions. Proactively reviews product parts lists to identify obsolete items and find solutions via selection of alternates, superseding parts, last time buys, etc.

• Performs component evaluations and qualifications. Identifies and promotes the use of preferred components.

• Works closely with other engineering staff, Supply Chain, QA and suppliers on all component issues. Supports work to resolve component problems to identify "root cause" and permanent solutions.

• Participates in design reviews, as needed.

• Assists QA in inspection of suppliers for approval as source of supply.

• Sustaining Engineering

• Evaluates and approves design changes related to component changes due to obsolescence, cost reduction or manufacturability.

• Coordinates product support as required on product line with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning & Purchasing.

• Prepares and researches engineering change orders related to required changes to products due to component changes.

• Performs all other job responsibilities as assigned.

What you will need to succeed:

• Qualifications

• Working knowledge of electronic and mechanical component types.

• Recognizing impact of component changes on software.

• Computer literate in Microsoft Windows systems using Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, particularly SMT.

• Component purchasing experience.

• Ability to reach reasonable conclusions from limited hard facts in a timely fashion.

• Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to easily work with other departments, interdisciplinary team and vendors.

• Excellent verbal and written skills.

The posted pay range, $94,800 - $126,400, is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. This may vary depending on experience and other factors. Our benefits package includes tuition reimbursement; 3 weeks paid vacation your first year, paid holidays, medical, vision, and dental coverage, pet insurance, life insurance, and 401K contributions.
