SAIC is seeking a Senior Computer Engineer to support the US Navy in Middletown, RI
This employee designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that require low-level control processing (Interrupts, Timers Digital I/O and serial communication protocols) for electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic equipment. Develops embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors including networking and radio systems. Requires basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
JOB DUTIES:
Reviewing project requirements and documentation
Documenting work
Attending team meetings to discuss progress
Collaborating with other engineers on code reviews
Collaborating with multidiscipline teams for system interaction
Designing system architecture
Writing code in various languages like C++, C, or Verilog
Troubleshooting system issues and debugging code to fix errors (Could be within an IDE or IDP/Hardware)
Testing functionalities (System integration testing or Unit testing)
Travel to offsite/field location for hand-on system testing/integration
Qualifications
Qualifications:
BS in Electrical or Computer engineering and 5 years' experience
Embedded programming/debugging, Embedded C, C++, Verilog
Candidate must be a US Citizen
Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor qualified candidates for a security clearance
