the client A large, highly complex laboratory / science & technology building currently under construction at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

  • A major new construction lab building
  • A large-scale project (approximately $300M–$400M+)
  • Requiring a highly experienced scheduler embedded with the contractor team
  • A long-term assignment with continuity through 2028

The Scheduler will function as an integrated member of the project team, supporting planning, sequencing, and schedule management for a technically complex building program.

This is not a remote support role. The expectation is strong on-site collaboration with project leadership, superintendents, and trade partners.

In addition, the Scheduler will represent us in a visible, client-facing environment and must demonstrate strong professionalism, discretion, and interpersonal judgment.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve typical senior scheduler duties on a large construction project, which are expected to include:

  • Development and maintenance of the project schedule
  • Coordination with project leadership, field teams, and subcontractors
  • Schedule analysis, updates, and reporting
  • Support for planning, sequencing, and schedule-related decision-making
  • Participation in meetings where schedule impacts project outcomes
  • Ongoing interaction with leadership and other stakeholders
  • Professional representation in both formal and informal project settings

Candidate Profile

Whiting-Turner has specifically requested candidates with:

  • Experience on large projects ($300M–$400M+)
  • Background in science/tech, pharma, healthcare, advanced lab, or mission-critical buildings
  • Strong command of Primavera P6 (required)
  • Experience working embedded with a project team
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (with flexibility for travel-based candidates)

In addition, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be comfortable in client-facing environments
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with senior project stakeholders
  • Demonstrate good judgment in both formal and informal settings
  • Be capable of representing the company in work and after-work environments (e.g., team dinners, client events, industry functions)

This role requires not only technical competence, but also professional presence and situational awareness.

Work Model & Travel Flexibility

While the project expects a near full-time on-site presence, there is meaningful flexibility for highly qualified remote candidates:

  • Travel and per diem are covered
  • Candidate may:
  • Fly in Monday morning and begin work midday
    • Depart Friday midday
    • Travel home 2–3 weekends per month
    • This flexibility is explicitly supported by the client for the right candidate
  • Why This Role Stands Out

    • Long-term assignment through 2028
    • Embedded role on a flagship, high-visibility project
    • Collaboration with one of the top GCs in the country
    • Technically sophisticated facility type
    • Travel flexibility without sacrificing team integration
    • Strong stability compared to short-term scheduling contracts
    • Opportunity to build trusted relationships with both contractor and client leadership
