Senior Construction Superintendent Water & Wastewater Projects Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for commercial, industrial, water, and wastewater construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing construction sites from mobilization through completion, with proven leadership skills and the ability to coordinate General Contractors, subcontractors, crews, vendors, and project teams.
Experience with underground industrial construction is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily field operations for water and wastewater construction projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, laborers, trades, and other on-site personnel.
- Ensure all construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to project specifications.
- Review plans, drawings, submittals, schedules, and specifications to ensure proper project execution.
- Coordinate with General Contractors, Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve scheduling, quality, or field-related issues.
- Ensure work complies with applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
- Lead and enforce daily safety practices, toolbox talks, and job-site safety meetings.
- Coordinate material and equipment deliveries to prevent interruptions or delays.
- Maintain clear communication regarding project status, schedule updates, site conditions, and potential challenges.
- Resolve field conflicts and construction issues quickly while minimizing project delays.
- Assist with pre-construction activities, including submittals, subcontractor coordination, estimating, scheduling, and project planning.
- Manage project change orders, including obtaining pricing, coordinating execution, and issuing change orders to subcontractors.
- Track project activities and ensure work remains aligned with approved schedules and budgets.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate updates to management and project teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent in commercial, industrial, water/wastewater, or related construction.
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial construction processes.
- Experience managing construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of job-site safety practices, OSHA requirements, and applicable building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors, field crews, and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Experience with Procore and Microsoft Office required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project preferred.
- OSHA certification required.
- High school diploma required; degree or certification in Construction Management or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with underground industrial construction is highly preferred.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, experienced Commercial/Industrial Construction Superintendent who can take ownership of day-to-day field operations and effectively manage subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality, materials, and project coordination.
Candidates with experience in water/wastewater facilities, infrastructure construction, underground industrial work, or large-scale commercial/industrial projects will be strongly considered.
