Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Construction Superintendent for a leading commercial construction organization delivering complex projects across a diverse range of markets. This is an onsite, field-based position in Lansing, Michigan.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Construction Superintendent will provide hands-on leadership for complex commercial construction projects, coordinating trade partners, suppliers, project teams, and clients to ensure successful project execution. This role will oversee project scheduling, safety, quality, logistics, budget tracking, and client communication from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and decisive construction leader who can build strong relationships, navigate complex projects, and maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead field operations for complex commercial construction projects, coordinating trade partners, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams to meet schedule, safety, quality, and budget goals.

  • Develop and manage project logistics, operations, safety, scheduling, work sequencing, material deliveries, inspections, and long-lead items from project kickoff through completion.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, inspectors, and trade partners to resolve design, construction, scope, scheduling, and project execution issues.

  • Champion jobsite safety and quality control by conducting meetings and inspections, documenting incidents and near-misses, maintaining safe worksites, and holding trade partners accountable.

  • Maintain project documentation, including RFIs, daily logs, drawings, change orders, project schedules, financial tasks, health dashboards, and other records using Procore and related systems.

  • Build strong client and project-team relationships, lead progress meetings, mentor field staff, support project closeout, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and pride in project execution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong commercial construction background with experience leading field teams and coordinating multiple trade contractors across complex projects.

  • Broad construction knowledge across commercial, industrial, retail, and/or multi-unit residential projects, with familiarity across steel, wood, and concrete structures.

  • Ability to effectively read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, scopes of work, contracts, and construction documentation, with strong knowledge of construction sequencing and applicable building, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing codes.

  • Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse project stakeholders.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel or work remotely on projects outside a reasonable driving distance; OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, equipment/operator training, and field leadership certifications are required or can be completed within the required timeframe.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
