Job Summary

As a Senior Content Writer with Purdue University's award-winning in-house marketing agency, Purdue Brand Studio, you will serve as a creative leader, shaping the voice of one of the nation's most respected universities. Through emotive storytelling and strategic marketing copywriting, you will advance awareness, affinity and demand for the Purdue enterprise by crafting work that inspires, informs and connects with diverse audiences.

In this senior role, you will:

  • Lead the development of creative concepts and signature stories, ensuring every piece of content is both on brand and on strategy.
  • Write and edit high-impact content across a wide range of media channels, including web, digital campaigns, video, social, and print.
  • Demonstrate mastery of interviewing, research and narrative-building, distilling complex, informative ideas into compelling, human-centered storytelling.
  • Collaborate with designers, strategists and stakeholders to bring bold creative ideas to life that achieve measurable results.
  • Elevate the work of the team by mentoring early career writers, providing constructive feedback and contributing to a culture of creative excellence.
  • Contribute to process and project leadership, helping guide and improve writer and collaboration processes.

This senior position is a hybrid role that requires travel (up to 25%) to campus and other external locations for work-related assignments and team meetings as necessary.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, English, advertising, public relations or related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional writing experience

Skills:

  • Experience writing across digital mediums, including long-form story writing and complementary social media copy to promote these pieces
  • Significant experience and comfort conducting interviews with subject-matter experts
  • Experience conducting thorough research that contributes to in-depth storytelling
  • Understanding of writing applications in traditional and emerging storytelling platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt copywriting style to various audiences, purposes or media
  • Proficient in AP Style
  • Strong organizational abilities, including time and resource management
  • Proficient expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to become proficient in other software
  • Competency concepting and presenting creative work
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with external and internal constituents
  • Consistent quality control in work
  • Understanding of specific channels or vertical markets as required by job function

Nice to Have:

  • External or in-house agency experience.

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $73,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
