About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of construction contract administration across major heavy industrial and power projects.

This position will serve as a key resource to project leadership, providing contractual guidance from initial contract review and negotiation through execution, administration, change management, claims, and final closeout.

The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify contractual risks while partnering effectively with project managers, estimators, superintendents, accounting, legal counsel, owners, subcontractors, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of construction contracts, including review, negotiation, execution, administration, amendments, closeout, and final settlement.
  • Review prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, exhibits, insurance requirements, and project-specific terms and conditions.
  • Identify contractual risks, obligations, deadlines, and potential exposures and communicate key issues to project leadership and senior management.
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, superintendents, accounting, legal counsel, owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare, review, negotiate, and administer contract modifications, change orders, notices, RFIs, payment provisions, claims, and contractual correspondence.
  • Track contract deliverables, notice requirements, insurance and bonding requirements, lien waivers, warranties, retainage, and other compliance obligations.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor compliance with contractual scope, schedule, safety, insurance, payment, and documentation requirements.
  • Support project teams in managing claims, disputes, delays, differing site conditions, extensions of time, and other contractual issues.
  • Review payment applications, invoices, change order requests, and supporting documentation for contractual compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain complete and organized contract files, including executed agreements, amendments, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with project risk management by identifying potential cost, schedule, scope, and legal issues before they escalate.
  • Ensure contract administration practices comply with company policies, applicable laws, project requirements, and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain contract management procedures, templates, logs, and tracking systems.
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams regarding contract requirements, documentation, notice provisions, and risk management.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide contractual guidance regarding scope, responsibilities, schedules, changes, and dispute avoidance.
  • Support project closeout activities, including final payments, punch-list completion, warranties, releases, lien documentation, retention, and contract reconciliation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders while protecting the company's contractual and financial interests.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in construction contract management, contract administration, or commercial management.
  • Strong background supporting large, complex construction projects.
  • Experience with projects in one or more of the following sectors strongly preferred: Power Generation, Chemical, Advanced Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Data Centers, Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Renewable Energy, Central Utility Plants, or Heavy Industrial.
  • Strong understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, claims, notices, insurance, bonding, payment provisions, lien requirements, and closeout procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate contractual, financial, schedule, and commercial risks.
  • Strong contract negotiation and administration skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex contract documents and translate contractual requirements into actionable guidance for project teams.
  • Experience managing change orders, claims, disputes, delays, differing site conditions, and extensions of time.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and contractual obligations.
  • Ability to work effectively with project executives, operations teams, legal counsel, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Law, or a related field is preferred.
