Description
Express Employment Professionals-Farmingdale, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to lead and manage our in‑house Control Panel Shop. This role requires strong technical expertise in industrial control panel design and fabrication, as well as the leadership skills needed to guide a team of technicians and collaborate with sales staff to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations within the Control Panel Shop, ensuring efficient and high‑quality panel fabrication.
Design and draft small industrial control systems using AutoCAD Electrical, including schematics, panel layouts, bills of materials, and special details.
Select, specify, and procure all components required for control panel builds.
Partner with Sales to develop opportunities and drive panel shop revenue.
Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMI interfaces, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for various control applications.
Conduct factory testing of controls and finished panels to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Ensure all control panels meet UL 508A requirements; maintain strong working knowledge of UL compliance standards.
Provide technical support to customers—primarily over the phone, with occasional on‑site service when necessary.
Supervise, mentor, and support Panel Shop Technicians, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting.
Utilize SAP for sales, procurement, production orders, and inventory management (training provided if needed).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent design and industrial control experience.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for control system design.
Hands‑on experience designing, assembling, and testing industrial control panels.
Demonstrated ability to program PLCs and HMIs; experience with VFD setup and testing.
Familiarity with UL 508A standards and certified panel shop processes.
Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to guide technicians and interact effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with SAP is helpful but not required (training available).
