Century Control Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Control Systems Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, implementation, and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems. This leadership role is responsible for managing complex automation projects, mentoring engineering staff, and delivering high-quality control system solutions for industrial clients across multiple industries.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with extensive experience in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial networking technologies, along with strong project management and client-facing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering, design, programming, testing, and commissioning of industrial control systems.
  • Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications for new installations and system upgrades.
  • Design electrical control systems, panel layouts, and instrumentation architecture.
  • Review customer specifications and develop system design documentation.
  • Serve as the technical lead for multiple automation projects from concept through startup.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, clients, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and system commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues both remotely and onsite.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Participate in client meetings, proposal development, technical presentations, and project planning.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering projects and technical teams.
  • Expert knowledge of PLC programming platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), Siemens, Schneider Electric, or Omron.
  • Extensive experience with HMI and SCADA systems including FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet, OPC UA, and MQTT.
  • Experience with electrical control panel design, instrumentation, motor control, and power distribution.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and control narratives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for project meetings, commissioning, and support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience in water/wastewater, manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, energy, oil & gas, or chemical processing industries.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
  • Experience with virtualized servers, industrial networking, and cloud-connected automation systems.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
