Summary
As a Senior Cost Accountant, you'll partner with operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance to drive cost analysis, inventory accuracy, standard costing, and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact plant performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead standard costing activities and maintain cost accounting systems for multiple manufacturing operations
  • Partner with operations, engineering, supply chain, and plant leadership to improve manufacturing performance and cost visibility
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances to identify cost savings opportunities and improve profitability
  • Review Bills of Material (BOMs) to ensure accurate product costing
  • Support month-end close through journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Analyze inventory, including excess and obsolete inventory, and ensure accurate inventory valuation
  • Coordinate physical inventories, cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and inventory adjustments
  • Prepare reports on product profitability, gross margins, manufacturing efficiency, and operational performance
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturing financial analysis
  • Support product line transfers and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain transfer pricing documentation and provide guidance to junior accounting staff
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, manufacturing finance, cost analysis, or plant accounting
  • Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, product costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and month-end close
  • Understanding of inventory valuation, physical inventories, inventory controls, and financial reporting
  • Experience analyzing BOMs, product profitability, gross margins, and manufacturing costs
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, BAAN, SAP, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Hyperion, Smart View, Crystal Reports, or similar manufacturing accounting systems
