Job Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial analysis to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materials
  • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights
  • Monitor inventory transactions and work orders to ensure accurate inventory valuation
  • Oversee cycle counting program and partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations
  • Prepare cost-related financial reports, including margin analysis and product profitability
  • Assist with audits by providing documentation and analysis as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)
  • 5-8+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Dynamics 365 preferred) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Work Environment:
