Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant in Auburn, MA. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to support manufacturing accounting operations, cost analysis, inventory reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial analysis, with the ability to investigate transaction discrepancies, analyze manufacturing costs, and support accurate financial reporting. This role partners closely with Operations, Production, Engineering, and Finance teams to drive accounting accuracy and process improvements. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Review inventory transactions, manufacturing activity, and cost accounting records for accuracy
  • Analyze inventory valuation, WIP, manufacturing variances, and cost of goods sold (COGS)
  • Investigate and resolve ERP system transaction errors and accounting discrepancies
  • Review margins and profitability reporting, identifying unusual trends and variances
  • Support inventory reserve analysis and fixed asset accounting activities
  • Maintain account reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Finance teams to resolve accounting issues
  • Support audit requests and provide accounting documentation as needed
  • Assist with process improvements and ERP data integrity initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Experience reviewing inventory transactions, margins, profitability, and manufacturing costs
  • Experience identifying and correcting ERP or system transaction issues
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, debits, credits, and financial reporting
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP; XLOOKUP; Pivot Tables; SUMIF formulas
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Epicor ERP experience
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations accounting
  • Experience with inventory valuation, WIP, COGS analysis, and inventory controls
  • Experience with profitability and margin reporting
  • Ability to support periodic overtime or weekend close activities when necessary

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
