In this role, the Cost Accountant serves as a cross-functional liaison for internal reporting, KPI development, and profitability projections. This role will be primarily responsible for maintaining accurate product costing through variance analyses, managing discretionary spend to budget, and overseeing inventory control.This role is based in our facility located in Stockton, CA .What You'll DoDevelop accurate cost standardsPerform cost audits and variance analysesProvide timely updates on key performance indicatorsAssist the operations team with ad-hoc analysesComplete month-end close responsibilities as necessaryEnsure accurate inventory quantities and valuationMaintain effective cost structure - proper classifications, timely recognition, & controlled spendingPartner with IT in developing reporting capabilitiesFoster a spirit of continuous improvementAdhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assignedWhat You'll Need to Excel in This RoleA bachelor's degree in accounting or a relevant disciplineAt least 4 years of cost accounting experience in an industrial/manufacturing environmentOracle JD Edwards or similar ERP familiarityMS Excel proficiency – charting/graphing, pivot tables, v-lookups, and logic formulasCritical reasoning, solution-based thinking, and research skillsAbility to complete complex tasks with minimal supervisionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMPS offers a dynamic work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.
