Senior Cost Accountant

Location: Chestertown, MD 21620

Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary Range: $80-$100k per year

The Dixon Group is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Chestertown, MD! The Senior Cost Accountant determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods. This role is responsible for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits. Also examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly.

What Youll Do:

  • Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze production costs, variances, and performance against targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on variances, providing explanations and recommendations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports related to cost accounting.
  • Present financial information to management, highlighting key performance indicators.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in cost accounting functions.
  • Work closely with other departments to streamline financial processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates for new products or services.
  • Evaluate the impact of cost changes on overall business profitability.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as operations and procurement to gather relevant information.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

What Were Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field;
  • 4-7 years of progressive experience in cost accounting
  • Proven experience in cost account, preferably in a senior role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies
  • Proficient in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in standard costing.
  • Manufacturing or multi-entity experience preferred
