Senior Accountant - Cost & Inventory

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong experience in cost accounting and inventory management? We are seeking a Senior Accountant - Cost & Inventory to join a growing manufacturing organization in the East Bay. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to drive accurate financial reporting and business insights.

Key Responsibilities

* Own monthly inventory accounting and cost accounting close activities
* Analyze inventory balances, reserves, variances, and manufacturing costs
* Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
* Monitor standard costs and assist with cost roll-ups and annual cost updates
* Partner with operations and supply chain teams to investigate inventory discrepancies and manufacturing variances
* Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
* Analyze production, labor, overhead, and material usage variances
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and manufacturing operations
* Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes
* Support external audits and provide required documentation and analysis
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

4+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment

Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis

Strong understanding of manufacturing and CPG operations

Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)

Knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred

* Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities
* Consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry experience
