Senior Counsel, Supply and Trading PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities, and supplying unbranded transportation fuels, heating oil, petrochemical feedstocks, lubricants and other petroleum products throughout the United States and internationally. We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior Counsel, Supply and Trading to join our team and play a critical role in supporting the commercial services and energy trading activities of PBF. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. The Senior Counsel, Supply and Trading will be a team-oriented attorney that will support the team members, traders and other key stakeholders in PBF’s supply and trading, credit, risk and compliance groups. Day-to-day responsibilities will include advising on legal risks, strategies and structures for a variety of commercial energy transactions, as well as handling general industry compliance, regulatory and pipeline related matters. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Structure, draft, negotiate and facilitate commercial transactions around a variety of energy activities (both physical and financial) related to petroleum products, power, natural gas, environmental attributes and other commodity and energy management services, including negotiating product purchase and sale agreements, master trading agreements, such as ISDAs, LEAPs and NAESBs, credit arrangements, transaction confirmations, rail, pipeline and marine transportation agreements, leases, terminal, storage and throughput agreements, environmental credit agreements and non-disclosure agreements. Advise on compliance and regulatory matters, including FERC, State Public Utility Commissions, CARB and other pipeline and cap and trade program matters. Effectively manage outside counsel in a cost-effective manner, whether transactional, litigation or compliance in nature. Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business teams to help drive the delivery of effective and high-quality legal services which are appropriately linked to relevant business needs. Represent the Company to customers, suppliers, competitors and governmental agencies. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. Degree required. Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction and able to register as Authorized In-House Counsel in the principal work location. Minimum 10+ years of progressively responsible corporate/commercial legal experience, preferably including experience with both a multi-national law firm and an established corporate law department. Candidates should have an inquisitive nature with a specific interest in energy and regulatory law, and should demonstrate the following skills and abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and prioritize assignments. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate a sense of urgency. General working familiarity of regulatory regimes governing energy market activities, such as FERC, PJM, State Public Utility Commissions, EPA, CFTC and Dodd-Frank. Basic working knowledge of the UCC, bankruptcy and insolvency law. Practical, solution-oriented problem-solving approach. Ability to interact confidently and respectfully with peers as well as others through every level of the organization. Ability to maintain the highest degree of ethics and to preserve absolute confidentiality. Must be willing and able to travel, as business need dictates. This position is on site 5 days a week. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. PBF currently owns and operates six domestic oil refineries and related assets with a combined processing capacity, known as throughput, of over 1,000,000 bpd, and a weighted average Nelson Complexity Index of 12.8.

PBF Energy’s refineries are located in California, Delaware, Louisiana, New Jersey and Ohio. Our newest refinery is located in Martinez, California and processes a blend of domestic and international feedstocks to produce a high-value product slate. Chalmette is a 189,000 barrel per day, dual-train coking refinery with a Nelson Complexity of 12.7 and is capable of processing both light and heavy crude oil. The facility is strategically positioned on the Gulf Coast with strong logistics connectivity that offers flexible raw material sourcing and product distribution opportunities, including the potential to export products.  Our East Coast refineries, at Delaware City and Paulsboro, have a combined refining capacity of 370,000 bpd and Nelson Complexity Indices of 11.3 and 13.2, respectively. These high-conversion refineries process primarily medium and heavy, sour crudes and have historically received the bulk of their feedstock via ships and barges on the Delaware River but have the capability to receive crude shipments via rail into crude rail unloading facilities at our Delaware City refinery. Our Midcontinent refinery, at Toledo, processes light, sweet crude, has a throughput capacity of 170,000 bpd and a Nelson Complexity Index of 9.2. The majority of Toledo’s WTI-based crude is delivered via pipelines that originate in both Canada and the United States. Since our acquisition of Toledo in 2011, we have added additional truck and rail crude unloading capabilities that provide feedstock sourcing flexibility for the refinery and enables Toledo to run a more cost-advantaged crude slate.
