Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect

- Duration: Target start 08/17/2026; through 12/31/2026 with potential extension

About the Opportunity
This contract role will support the build-out and ongoing management of a data infrastructure supporting a data lab initiative. You will design and enhance pipelines and ETL processes, ensure robust data security and governance, and automate workflows to enable real-time data access and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage data infrastructure for a lab/analytics environment.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Implement and enforce data security, governance, and compliance controls.
• Optimize data systems for performance and reliability.
• Automate workflows to support real-time data access and analytics.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 3 5 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or cloud engineering.
• Proficient in SQL.
• Programming skills in Python or Java or Scala.
• Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Familiarity with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in government, public safety, or legal data environments.
• Certifications in Cloud Engineering, Data Engineering, or Security.
• Familiarity with GIS data, real-time streaming technologies, or Airflow.

Work Environment

• 100% onsite in Wilmington, DE; no travel required.
• Security/background screening required.
